A QR code for your real estate sign

Put a dynamic QR code on each sign and point it at the listing the sign is standing outside. When the sign moves to the next property, change the link. The sign itself never needs reprinting.

Printing it?

That code can never be changed

The link is baked into the pattern. If the page moves or the offer behind it ends, every poster you printed points at a dead URL and the only fix is reprinting them.

A dynamic code points at us instead, so you can change where it goes whenever you like — and see how many people scanned it.

The sign moves. The listing behind it should too.

A good sign costs real money, so it goes up outside one house after another. The code on it is the part that goes stale. Print a code for 12 Oak Lane, sell the house, and move the sign to Birch Road. Every buyer who scans it there now sees a sold house three streets away.

Most agents fix this with stickers, or they leave the code off the sign. Both waste the best moment you get: someone standing outside the property, phone in hand, wanting the price and the photos now.

Flyers in the window box and open-house boards have the same problem on a shorter clock. They are printed for one property, but the page they open often changes before they are thrown away. The price drops, the open-house time moves, or the listing goes under offer.

Static or dynamic for a sign?

A static code is right for anything printed for one property and thrown away with it, as long as its page stays up. A one-off brochure is a good example. Make it with the generator above, for free.

A sign needs a dynamic code. The pattern on the sign never changes. You change the listing it opens from your account, and each sign counts its own scans, so you can see which streets get attention.

Count your signs before you start. Your subscription includes 5 dynamic codes, enough for one per sign in a small office. A busier office can email us for a higher limit, as the questions further down explain.

If you leave the subscription, every sign goes quiet together: 7 days after the last paid period, a buyer who scans one gets a short notice that the code is not active, and no listing.

How it works

  1. Create. Make one dynamic code per sign, named after the sign, and point it at the current listing.
  2. Print. Send the SVG to your sign maker. Make the code large enough to scan from the pavement.
  3. Update anytime. When the sign moves, paste in the next listing before it goes up.

What it costs

Static codes are free, with no account. Dynamic codes cost $49 a year, which saves 30% against paying monthly, or $5.90 a month. We recommend yearly. Tax is included. Every account starts with a 7-day free trial that needs no payment details, and a subscription covers 5 dynamic codes. Cancel anytime and keep access to the end of the period you paid for.

If you stop paying, your dynamic codes stop resolving once the paid period and a further 7 days of grace have passed. Nothing is deleted: the codes, their links and their scan history stay in your account, and every code starts working the moment you subscribe again. Static codes never depend on us. They keep working as long as the page they point to does. We never switch one off, but we cannot bring back a page that has gone.

Questions

Can one sign be used for property after property?

Yes, if the code on it is dynamic. Give each sign its own code and, when the sign goes up outside a new property, change that code to the new listing. It takes a minute on your phone. Do it before the sign goes in the ground, so the first passer-by to scan it does not land on a house that has already sold.

Can I see which of my signs people scan?

Yes, as long as each sign carries its own dynamic code. Every code counts its own scans, with the date and time, so you can tell a busy corner from a quiet street. We do not know who scanned, and you will not get a name or a phone number from a scan.

What if I need more than 5 dynamic codes?

Ask us. The ceiling is set per account and we can raise yours — email [email protected] with a rough idea of how many you need and what for.

What should I check before printing?

Use the SVG if your printer accepts one. It is vector, so it stays sharp at any size, from a business card to a billboard. The PNG is there for everything that wants a picture instead.

Size it for the distance. A rough rule that holds up well: the code wants to be about a tenth as wide as the distance it is scanned from — two centimetres for a leaflet in someone's hand, a good deal more for a poster read across a room.

Leave the margin alone. The clear border around the pattern is part of the code, and cropping it to fit a layout is the most common reason a printed code will not scan.

Test the proof, not the screen. Scan the actual printed piece with more than one phone before the run goes ahead.
